Overview
The TR CLEAR Court Search module enables users to search public court and filing records for individuals or businesses. It helps organizations identify legal filings, financial obligations, and public records that may impact lending, underwriting, compliance, or due diligence decisions.
In this implementation, Court Search retrieves and stores the following public record categories:
-
Liens & Judgments
-
UCC Filings
-
Bankruptcy
These records provide valuable insight into an individual's or business's legal and financial history.
What is Court Search?
TR CLEAR Court Search is a Thomson Reuters service that searches trusted public record databases for court-related information associated with a person or business.
Unlike ID Confirm, which verifies identity, or Risk Inform, which provides an overall risk assessment, Court Search focuses on identifying public legal and financial records.
Court Search helps organizations:
-
Perform due diligence during underwriting.
-
Identify existing legal or financial obligations.
-
Assess potential lending or business risks.
-
Support compliance and investigative processes.
What Information Does It Search?
Court Search uses identifying information from the selected individual or business to search available public record databases.
Depending on the search type, the search may use information such as:
|
Field |
Description |
|---|---|
|
First Name / Business Name |
Primary search identifier |
|
Last Name |
Used for person searches |
|
Address |
Helps narrow search results |
|

How to Interpret the Results
Court Search may return multiple records for a single search.
Each returned record should be reviewed to determine:
-
Whether it belongs to the correct individual or business.
-
The type of public filing.
-
The filing date and current status.
-
Whether the record may impact lending, underwriting, or compliance decisions.
Not every returned record indicates elevated risk; users should evaluate the information in the context of their organization's policies and review process.
Where to Find It in Salesforce
Court Search results are stored as TR CLEAR Court Search records in Salesforce.
Each search record contains the overall search information and links to the returned public record results.
Depending on the search results, users can review:
-
Liens & Judgments

-
Bankruptcy records
Users can also access generated reports and related search information directly from the associated Salesforce records.
